It had been a bit weird, at first, having Even and Nel aboard the Ragnarok. Tayuya had been her cheerful self about sharing a confined space with a Ryoka, but she hadn't been actively hostile, at least. Nel did her part to keep tempers down to a gentle simmer, and Tayuya had kept her word and helped Even find stuff for his laboratory, even if it had been with visible grudging.

It hadn't been quite as straightforward as Yylfordt had hoped it would be. Orochimaru, it turned out, had been about as keen on getting all of his stuff from one place as any other member of Khamja, but more than one of the vendors had recognised Tayuya, and at least one of them had recognised Kadaj too. That recognition seemed to have gone a long way, because there weren't any awkward questions about what they wanted things for, or how they knew where to come. Tayuya hadn't been lying when she'd said they were good at discreet. Yylfordt got the strong impression this was because at least some of the shit they were vending was highly illegal. He spotted at least one restraining device that was definitely built to restrain a licensed species, tucked away to one side as they carted one of Even's purchases away and to the Ragnarok.

Even had also been good enough to get them a coffee machine, which had been a pretty good gesture of gratitude, and Yylfordt had stopped by one of the Al Bhed supply shops afterwards so he could hook the machine up to a power source in the Palace.

It was in the Al Bhed quarter that Kadaj had spotted a Mark posting for a Fiend. The kid had made a pretty solid living offing Hollows for money while he'd been gone, but his main interest, he'd said, was that some of his zanpakuato's abilities weren't really good to use when sparring. Geostigma was status effect based, after all, and Kadaj liked his friends too much to hit them with it. Yylfordt, who had been hit by a status effect when they'd run into the berserker and his fire elemental friend last time, was silently grateful for that.

The mark was supposed to be over in the Vile Peaks and Bresha area of the Wildlands, and had sent some Al Bhed party fleeing with their tails between their legs when they'd tried to explore the Vile Peaks. Yylfordt's eyes had practically lit up when he'd found that part out. The Peaks were less explored than the top of Gagazet, where they'd found the Ragnarok, and for similar reasons. It was hard to get to, dangerous as hell, and even harder to get out of. He'd heard of exploration parties going there and never coming back.

This one had, barely, but not all of them had made it, and they'd limped back to Home. The bill was posted in a few Al Bhed areas, apparently, but no one had taken it up yet, and the Gotei Squad in Bancour had more important things to do and places to patrol than the area around the Vile Peaks and Bresha.

Kadaj had asked if the others wouldn't mind doing a stop off. It had taken a lot of self control for Yylfordt to refrain from jumping up and down behind him, delightedly backing him up. He'd love to get into the Peaks, especially before another exploration party got there, and with four Arrancar, a ninja, a zanpakuto wielder, and a Ryoka in tow, there wouldn't be much there that could chase them off.

He nearly regretted his enthusiasm on the approach to the Peaks. Nearly. The journey was dangerous; the area was full of Jagd, which the Ragnarok could fly through, but it still made for a hairy ride when some of Yylfordt's own work on the ship ceased to function. He didn't strictly need proximity sensors and the like to fly, of course, but they were nice to have, and being without them made him fly that bit more carefully.

Bresha was below them, in all its creepy crystallised glory. It was funny how knowing a lake had been crystallised who even knew how long ago was different to seeing it spread out below the ship, Mist obscuring the view in places. The bill poster thought the Hollow might be centred on Bresha, because it had come from that direction, but that kind of thing was hard to say for sure. On the other hand, taking a bunch of high reiatsu people into the area might draw the Hollow out anyway.

He found a spot to park, concentrating too much on flying to chatter away or marvel at the scenery. He only relaxed once the Ragnarok was settled securely on the ground. That was when he looked around at the view beyond the cockpit and whistled. "Drec bmyla ec faent," he muttered, before he turned to his passengers. "Wouldn't wanna get stuck out here, bro."

It was pretty, sure, but eerie as shit, too.

Grimmjow had largely enjoyed his time away from the Palace.

It had definitely been slightly odd being on the Ragnarok, the usual haunt of him and his friends, with Nel and Even, but he had gotten used to it. Nel hadn't seemed given to nagging or complaining and Even had remained fairly quiet. Tayuya had been the only sticking point and she, it had to be said, was making an effort even though her dislike of the man was more than clear. The shopping had been conducted relatively painlessly and Grimmjow had been forced to concede that Even wasn't so bad after he'd used some of his Khamja budget to spring for a coffee machine for them in thanks for their help.

Yylfordt had seemed a bit excited about this and had gone off, quite happily, to get some supplies to wire the thing in to the Sunhouse with.

Kadaj's quest, the tail end of their excursion, hadn't exactly been planned, but neither Nel nor Even had objected to him wanting to go out and kill something for practice with his Zanpakuto. Grimmjow had been slightly wary after hearing where this hunt was to take place, but the upside to the Ragnarok was that it was, mercifully, Jagd proof and that alone cut out literal months of dangerous, on-foot travel.

"You ain't kidding," Grimmjow said in a low voice, having watched the scenery go by, or, at least, what little he could see of it through the thick blanket of swirling white Mist.

The instruments he usually consulted from the co-pilot's position had been reduced to static the moment they had entered the Jagd area over the sea. This had only gotten worse as the ship had crossed a difficult to see, Mist-covered and cliff-heavy coastline better known as The Vile Peaks. Things hadn't gotten better by the time the ship landed in Bresha and the screens before him, usually there to show maps and the Ragnarok's position in relation to them, remained resolutely grainy.

Tayuya still disliked the Ryoka. Okay, so he was doing Kadaj a favour, and the way Kadaj spoke to him suggested to her that Kadaj held an earned respect for him that didn't stem from the Ryoka being flat out more powerful than him, so she was willing to tolerate him. She just wasn't prepared to attempt to go as far as liking him, or even getting along with him. She spoke to him when she had to, and refrained from picking a fight.

She had, to more than a small degree, enjoyed being able to dictate for a part of the shopping trip. Most of the vendors remembered her, and the one that hadn't had remembered Orochimaru. She hadn't told them he was dead, so they'd been free to assume that they were merely collecting equipment on his behalf. It meant that the Ryoka had been given free reign to request whatever he needed with no further questions.

Then the Ryoka had gone buying his way into Yylfordt's favour, and bought them a coffee machine. It was probably buying his way into Grimmjow's favour, too, but Grimmjow was less like a little kid on Warsend about it.

But that had meant that Yylfordt had gone off to find stuff to hook it up to the power with in the Sunhouse, and that had meant Kadaj seeing a bill for a Hollow mark, and that had meant coming all the way out here into the crystallised arsehole of Spira to look for some mean bastard Hollow. It was, when you got right down to it, all the Ryoka's fault that they were here now.

Tayuya felt better about maintaining her grump despite the coffee machine if she thought about it that way.

"Couldn't you just take normal marks, Kadaj?" She asked, staring out of the window at the Misty landscape of do not want. "Ones that don't live in buttfuck nowhere surrounded by fucking Jagd?"

Kadaj had been in reasonably good humour for most of the journey. While Even was shopping, he'd kept out of the way. Since Kadaj wasn't an Arrancar, he wasn't expected to do any of the heavy lifting that they could manage. He'd been quite well tempered even though some of the vendors they'd visited had brought back memories Kadaj would rather not have any more, of journeys undertaken with Orochimaru and the Sound Five and the things that had happened on them.

Going with Yylfordt to browse amongst the Al Bhed suppliers had been a way to keep his mind off that kind of crap.

The bill, when he'd seen it, was for an awful lot of gil. It was the sort of amount that, Kadaj had learned from experience, meant some tough old Hollow, and a bill that had been put up and then the price increased a few times when people had either failed, or been put off by the location.

Yylfordt, surprisingly, was all for a journey to the Vile Peaks, which was part of why Kadaj had decided to ask the others if they'd be willing to head there. He knew Grimmjow, Apache, and Tayuya weren't going to be in a hurry to head back, but Nel and Even might have things they wanted to get back to.

Flying towards the Vile Peaks had been a little nerve wracking as various things in the cockpit had gone down the moment they hit Jagd. The peaks themselves, what was visible through the Mist, were foreboding, but Bresha, where they came to land, was pretty in an unsettling kind of way.

He'd grown more serious as they'd approached the location given for the Hollow. He sounded it now as he replied to Tayuya, "A zanpakuto is supposed to be used against Hollows, and Hollows that don't roam places like this get picked off by the Gotei squads."

Occasionally there'd be bills posted for smaller ones that were family members, or fiances, that weren't big enough to be a threat to population centres, and that the bill posters wanted releasing to join the lifestream as quickly as possible. They were always posted by people with money to throw at their problems, who could afford to throw money at this particular problem to get it solved faster than waiting for an overworked Gotei division to catch up to their family member's Hollow. Then there were the ones that were people wanting revenge, because a particular Hollow had killed a family member, or taken some item, or destroyed some item, but the Hollow wasn't close enough to a population centre to be high on the Gotei division's priority list.

The rest were like this one. Some big and nasty thing was lurking in some area no one wanted to go except this group of people who had far more gil than sense. These kinds of Hollows were more likely to be of the Gillian or Adjuchas level. Kadaj hadn't heard of a Vasto Lorde being billed for, but then, for people to know about a Hollow and bill for it, they had to get away from it alive, which was far less likely with a Vasto Lorde.

He wouldn't have considered taking this kind of hunt on without the rest of Skite, and Nel agreeing to tag along was a bonus. At least they had a healer for this one, too.

"You don't have to come out there with us, if you don't want to," he added. Somehow, it managed not to sound like he was suggesting Tayuya was afraid.

It had been an eye-opening journey for Nel, so far.

Tayuya was doing her level best not to antagonise Even, an endeavour which, Nel thought, wasn't wholly successful, but the fact that she was trying was showing. Apache just seemed glad to be out of the Palace for a bit. Grimmjow and Yylfordt were able to tuck their idiot sides away when they had to, and they'd been pretty good about helping to transport equipment back and forth. Kadaj, it turned out, could be quietly intense at times.

She'd been reluctant when he and Yylfordt had first told the others about the mark posting. Part of her agreed with Tayuya's sentiment, a larger part of her holding the view that everyone in this party except for herself and Even were too young and inexperienced to be taking on marks in places like that. Kadaj was young, and should be sticking to taking down low level fiends.

She had to remind herself that the kid had bankai. That between them Skite had three Captain level fighters, plus one of at least a very competent lieutenant level if not higher, and Tayuya, whose power levels were harder to judge. Two of them were practicing summoners, and at least another two had one powerful summon each to call on if things got hairy. What they didn't have, however, was a healer.

That more than anything was why she'd agreed to tag along, in the end, provided Even was okay with the excursion.

The Vile Peaks were well named, and what they could see of the area through the Mist looked roughly as inviting as the name. Bresha looked better, but there was an austere and uncomfortable beauty to the scenery beyond the windows of the Ragnarok.

"Let's try not to get stuck here, then," she said. Finding this Hollow might not be quick. The tricky thing was that this many Arrancar in a group would either draw it near, or frighten it away, depending upon how powerful it was in its own right. Unfortunately, if it came looking for them, then it was probably going to be a tough one, so that wasn't necessarily the best case scenario.

Even hadn't objected to going along on the trip, no matter how remote and forbidding the location was. He rather thought that he owed Kadaj one, especially since it had been his input that had got him the help of his Clan and the use of their airship in his equipment gathering endeavour.

He had stood as the airship travelled over the rocky, half-obscured coastline that he had been informed was better known as 'The Vile Peaks' and he couldn't say that they had been misnamed. From what he could see below the blankets of billowing pearly-white Mist, the landscape was both rocky and positively covered in the man-made debris of ages past. He saw the looming outlines of curious looking buildings, or possibly vehicles, silhouetted against Mistbanks and when he managed to see through the gaps in the Mist to ground-level he didn't once spot an area that wasn't strewn with old machinery or building materials.

It had looked, to him, more like an ancient rubbish dump than anything else.

To no small amount of relief on his part, the Ragnarok had sailed silenty and carefully over the wreckage-covered landscape and further in land. The next time something large became visible through the thick Mist it wasn't the trash of centuries before, but ... crystal. Glimmering, shining crystal.

Even's eyes had gone briefly wide at the sight of it. The towering spires outside looked as though they had been frozen in a state of tumult, for much of it looked rather like a freeze-frame of gigantic waves in the midst of some sort of catastrophic upset. He could just about see some sort of building up ahead, though he lost sight of it when the Mist blew across his vision and obscured it once more. The further in they went, the thinner the Mist got.

When the Ragnarok landed, surprisingly smoothly given that he had seen the instruments all but die the moment they had entered the Jagd over the sea, he didn't sit back down. Instead he looked out across the eerie landscape, brow slightly furrowed.

"Yes," Even agreed, dragging his eyes away from the crystal that reared up beyond the ship's windows. "Let's."

Apache had known nothing about the area, but had listened in when Even was informed about where they were going. He had seemed unconcerned about the remoteness of a long-abandoned city, but she was a little more worried. She knew that it was because she was from somewhere that had Remnants bound to their city's rulers, and that none of them had ever been terrified as children with the concept of a Collapse, but knowing that neither were likely to have happened at their destination didn't put her at ease.

She'd watched the Vile Peaks go by below them and she'd looked mildly horrified at the tall spires of crystal that stretched out of the Mist. Crystal was commonplace on Purvamae, she had seen some on Jylland on a school field trip and she'd flown past some on her way into Bhujerba before she had descended to Ivalice, but seeing it on the mainland made the hair on the back of her neck prickle uncomfortably.

When the ship landed she stood up and walked to the cockpit, stopping behind Yylfordt's chair to peer out of the window. The Mist had thinned out somewhat. It still limited the distance that she could see, but it wasn't covering everything within meters like a particularly thick fog any more.

"I don't think that one problem Hollow is the reason nobody comes here," she said, her voice quiet.

"Like fuck am I staying here on my own," Tayuya replied to Kadaj, looking half offended. "This place gives me the fucking creeps."

Yylfordt's brainless Al Bhed approach to the situation wasn't helping her feelings about the matter, either. They'd had to defeat and Send a lot of Things when they'd found the Ragnarok. Places that were full of ancient machina were also, in her limited but nonetheless extant experience, prone to being similarly full of things that didn't like being disturbed by Al Bhed maniacs with a hard on for technology.

Nel shook her head a little at Yylfordt. Apache seemed more freaked out by their surroundings than anyone else, but Yylfordt was as oblivious as ever and actually seemed to be enjoying himself.

She did, however, agree with his general assessment. The faster they got this Hollow, the faster they could be out of here again.

"Come on then," she said, to the group at large. "We have a Hollow to find." She trusted Yylfordt to have put the ship down somewhere it would be safe and stable, so that at least wasn't a concern. Making sure the Mist didn't play tricks on them and turn them around was going to be harder.

She brought her mask fragment out without any further hesitation. Anything they met out there, in that Mist, was unlikely to be friendly.

Kadaj managed not to tease Tayuya for basically admitting to being scared. He wasn't about to deny that this place was creepy. Something about the crystal all around was pretty but wrong.

He turned to Nel when she manifested her mask fragment, and nodded. "Yeah," he agreed. They didn't want to hang about unnecessarily. "Let's just hope we don't have to track it to the other side of the ruins."

He'd had Hollows try and escape him, and he'd had plenty of others make a beeline for him. It all depended on the Hollow, but the description of this one suggested it would probably try and find them, while they were trying to find it. If it was chasing away, and devouring, explorers, it would probably come for them, too.

Probably.

Grimmjow, like Nel, wasted no time in summoning his Mask. The curious feline jaw bone affixed to the side of his face glinted in the low artificial light of the Ragnarok's static-covered screens. When he stood up, he picked up his sword as he did it.

"Let's go, then," he said gruffly, affixing Pantera to his belt.

He hit the button on the console that opened the doors. He would have left Yylfordt to do it, but he was far too busy getting his jollies imagining piles and piles of shiny, old Machina just beyond the crystalline hell that awaited them outside.

"It goes without sayin', but don't wander off," he growled, looking at his usual party rather than Nel and Even. "Especially you, Machina Boy," he dropped his voice so only Yylfordt could hear him, "and keep an eye on Apache."

With that, he made his way to the airship's ramp and descended it, heading out into the unfamiliar Breshan terrain.

Apache looked uncomfortable, but steeled herself as she watched Grimmjow disembark.

She didn't like the look of the landscape beyond the door. The harsh beauty of the crystal set her teeth on edge, not just because there wasn't supposed to be anything like this in any land that hadn't, at one time or another, been touched by the fal'Cie. According to her lessons in history and mythology they had long abandoned Jylland, but they had nonetheless left their mark in crystal before doing so.

She absently turned one of the bangles on her wrist before calling forth her unicorn-like Mask Fragment, following Grimmjow and Nel's example.

Even looked at Neliel, raising his eyebrows.

Regardless of the fact that a higher ranked Arrancar was with the party, Grimmjow apparently felt no issue in giving orders to his own Clan and acting as though she wasn't among them. He didn't expect that Clan Skite's hierarchy overrode the Arrancar one, but he was slightly surprised that he had no intention of deferring to his superior automatically. If nothing else, it was clear that he wasn't going to turn the job of watching out for the others over to her.

He watched them all approach he ship's exit ramp and felt a small prickle of apprehension. Bresha was largely unexplored, according to what he'd been told and monsters, both Hollow and beast, were king. He was, for all intents and purposes, unarmed. He knew that he could not summon his shield should a battle occur, not after promising Marluxia and Ienzo that he would not showcase the weapon generation ability that they all shared, but that Clan Khamja thought was exclusive to Saix.

He was more than accomplished enough to defend himself with magic and his prowess with the Sentinel Class alone, but there was something almost comforting about putting a shield between himself and an enemy. If it came to that, a substitute made from ice would have to be sufficient.

jawmask: Not as planned! (I've had too many days.)
From: [personal profile] jawmask
Grimmjow walked in the direction of the Hollow's reiatsu signature, pausing occasionally to make sure that it had not moved from the location in which they had sensed it. It didn't seem to be fleeing from them and if they had detected it, it had undoubtedly noticed them.

The terrain became worse as they advanced. What had started out as rocky ground strewn with trash had eventually and seamlessly become cliffs and ravines, most of which appeared to be made almost entirely from rock and scrap metal. The Peaks weren't mountains in the traditional sense, they didn't even pretend to be, they were just miles of rocky coastline, stretching some distance in land, that were covered with debris, as if some great hand had scooped up the contents of a particularly awful battlefield and used it to rebuild something that was curiously similar, in Grimmjow's opinion, to the Mushroom Rock Road.

He looked down over the side of a bridge into the churning water below. It wasn't seawater, they weren't close enough to the coast for that, but it appeared to be fast moving enough to send up waves of hissing froth far below him. At first it had seemed weird to him that there were bridges in such a remote location, but it hadn't taken him long to notice that one of the ones he had crossed had still-lit lights along it, and a cracked wing. He thought that the airship's retirement as an accidental catwalk linking two cliffs together was a sad one.

Grimmjow didn't like it at all. The Mist put him ill at ease, though it wasn't as thick as he had expected at ground level. Up above it swirled like thick cloud with light penetrating only as much as it could on a heavily overcast day, but he could see more than he'd bargained for. Monsters ran from them and if there were any smaller Hollows, their weak, pathetic signatures were lost in amongst the obscuring Mist.

He lead the party across another bridge, their footsteps sounding uncomfortably loud as the metallic ringing of feet on metal reverberated on the multitide of surfaces, natural and man-made, around them. On the other side, the passage they had been following opened out into whatever the rock-based equivalent of a clearing was. Sensing the Hollow near, Grimmjow pressed on.

He was no more than halfway through the clear, open ground when he stopped, eyes wide. All around him, reddish blackness seemed to have risen up and when he cast his eyes skyward, it was as though the stark light of a Mist-filtered day had suddenly become night. The darkness was unnatural, uncomfortable, almost heavy, and it made him think, completely involuntarily, of being inside a Garganta, but he was still where he had been. He hadn't gone anywhere. He could see the rock below his feet and an old spring lying nearby. Something was very wrong.

"Wait," he called to the rest of them, his voice sharp and ringing in the silence.

Nel responded before Grimmjow called. The world had turned dark without warning, and the air was oppressive. It felt like danger, and like the parts of the Farplane they could traverse through Garganta. Gamuza reacted to it, too, calling for Nel's attention from inside her own head. This was bad. This was very, very dangerous, and it made the hair stand up on the back of her neck.

Chaos like this, like your felt inside a Garganta, wasn't something you were supposed to be able to walk into a cloud of out in the normal world. Yet, in the same way Gamuza had known about that girl with the berserker and fire elemental, the Hollow seemed to know something about this, too.

Nel, following an instinct that came from the Hollow rather than her own feelings, backed up a few paces, her hand firmly on the hilt of her sword. Without warning the darkness fell away, as if it had never existed, the sky was a Misty white again, and that oppressive feeling lifted.

Two steps forward again, and it was back. She frowned. It had a border, of sorts, but finding a way round it would take time they didn't really want to spare.

Tayuya, already edgy, responded to the horrible change in the environment with blunt candor.

"What the fucking fuck is this?"

She'd come this far out of stubbornness, but now she was being tested. This felt fucking wrong. She'd petitioned Fayths that were the lingering selves of some real fucking gems, and none of them had felt as off-putting as whatever the hell this was. It was like being stuck in the middle of someone's summoning.

It was worse, because it was obviously spooking the others, too.

Fuck this place, and fuck the Hollow. She could see why some Al Bhed dickheads had noped on out post haste, and they hadn't even met the Hollow yet.

Kadaj had never felt anything like it before. He shared Tayuya's sentiments, if not her phrasing; this was scary, and weird, and a bigger part of him wanted to get the hell out of it than wanted to know what it was and what had caused it

He moved nearer to Tayuya, and Apache, looking up at the sky overhead. That was the part that worried him the most; he couldn't tell whether it was messing with his perceptions, or if there was something else at work to make it turn so dark.

And foreboding. Kadaj had the distinct sense that lingering here would be a bad idea.

"I don't know," he said, softly, "but I don't like it either."

Even felt a rush of adrenaline as everything went dark. It wasn't complete darkness, it wasn't even complete Darkness, but it was there, very real and tangible, and in a rather limited field. It was a little like the darkness corridors he was used to, back from before he had arrived on Spira, and it seemed as though something like that was spilling out and tainting the real world.

He'd read about this effect. It was extremely rare, written about as though it was a theory for the most part, but it was nonetheless documented in old works, or those dedicated to unusual occurrences.

"It's a Chaos Infusion," Even said, casting his eyes up towards the darkened sky. "It's unclear what causes them, but the limited research on the subject suggests that at least both Mist and the presence of Hollows are a common factor in their appearance."

He looked around, both at his surroundings, and his current allies. It didn't seem likely that a Hollow could cause a Chaos Infusion, they were so small in comparison to what might be needed to manifest such a thing that it was more likely that they were drawn to them, but they were said to be almost always present when one appeared. Indeed, the books he had read had mentioned them in the same paragraph as the Oversoul effect, putting forth the theory that they had a similar effect, only externally, similar to how different climates affected those of different Elements.

"It shouldn't be dangerous in and of itself," he said, not feeling particularly confident in that, "though they are said to attract Hollows, so if your target is anywhere, it may be beyond or within this field."

He hoped it was beyond. If a Chaos Infusion did make a Hollow more powerful, he would rather not be there to fight it, but being in a party with four Arrancar did make him wonder if it would have the same effect on them, too.

Apache went rather cold when she stepped through.

She looked around, eyes wide, and turned to the Ryoka when he told them about what it was. Chaos Infusion. That sounded bad. She'd only ever heard of Chaos leaking out from anything once before, and that was never supposed to happen on Ivalice, it was supposed to be impossible. It was rare enough on Jylland, there were steps in place to stop it happening.

"Let's hope it isn't inside it," she said, her voice small. "We... have something like this on Jylland ... and the monsters inside it are worse than others..."

Grimmjow scowled. He didn't like it at all. It was like being in the thinly-stretched Reiatsu of some unseen creature, but it wasn't bad enough that it made him physically uncomfortable. It was probable that normal people would suffer more in Apache's mask-wearing presence than he was in this. It was just... weird.

If it was Mist related, Grimmjow thought that the Ryoka's assertion that it wasn't dangerous probably wasn't strictly true. There was enough Mist around the Vile Peaks that a party of normal people travelling there would probably need respirators. As it was, a Ryoka, a Mistant Shinigami and five artificially augmented people should be fine, but if the Chaos Infusion was something to do with the concentration, they might not be so lucky after a few hours of exposure.

"Let's get through it then," he said, advancing, but placing his hand on the hilt of his sword.

Kadaj looked at Even when he spoke, a thoughtful frown on his face. 'Chaos Infusion' sounded roughly as non-dangerous as 'Vile Peaks'. He didn't like the idea of traveling through it, despite Even's assertion that it wasn't supposed to be dangerous in itself.

He didn't like being in it. It felt wrong. The air felt like... like... like being in the presence of one of the Arrancar when they'd fully released. It wasn't that it was a powerful reiatsu, it just gave a very strong sense that you didn't want to hang around because bad things lay in your immediate future.

He turned to Tayuya with that same frown. "I've got a bad feeling," he said, very quietly. "Do you want to stick with Nel?" Nel, at least, was the strongest Arrancar present, a healer, and a team player. She'd watch out for Tayuya if anything weird started going on.

Weirder than Chaos leaking into the world, anyway.

Tayuya glowered at Kadaj, but the venom had been sapped from it by the current situation. Kadaj had basically just admitted that this scared him, too, and Tayuya wasn't sure if he was asking if she wanted to stick with Nel for her own sake, or for his.

"Not really," she answered, stubbornly. "Quit fussing over me, dickwad."

She huffed. It was just a Chaos Infusion, Even said. It spooked the shit out of the Arrancar, but it wasn't dangerous. It probably didn't say much for it that the only person who wasn't visibly wigged out by this shit right now was the fucking Ryoka.

"Let's just find this fucking Hollow and get the hell back to the Ragnarok."

Nel murmured at Even's explanation. It made sense, although she couldn't help but wonder, "How do you know that?"

Even was a Ryoka. None of them knew, and they'd lived on Spira their whole lives. Even, on the other hand, had only been here for a handful of years, if that.

Even Gamuza was familiar with the thing but didn't seem to know the sort of detail Even had just given them. Nel suspected Gamuza's understanding of them had come from experience, rather than education. If Hollows liked to linger around them, then it was possible Gamuza had. She didn't have time to get into detailed discussion with the Hollow about it now, however.

"Come on," she said, ushering the others to follow after Grimmjow, despite Tayuya's obvious reservations. The faster they moved, the sooner they'd be out of this.
