Timpcanpy rode on Axel's shoulder for the duration of the trip, gripping his clothing with his tiny fingers as the two of them walked. Sometimes he flew, but it was all too easy for him to be pinged out of the air by an inattentive shopper, a laden tradesman or somebody in a hurry.
That, and it gave his wings ample rest. He would need them to be fresh and free of tiredness if he was going to reliably avoid the retaliatory swats of his old adversary.
He fluttered up and off Axel while he held the door open for Aerith and settled on her head as she walked through.
