He grinned at him. He didn't really want to go out there, onto the swelteringly hot streets of Rabanastre, and sell flowers, but it was going to have to happen if he wanted Saix to do the same. While he was sure that Aerith would have bullied Saix into it regardless of Axel's participation, him being there would help. Probably.
He deliberately did not address the crush comment.
