Ignis listened in mute fascination. Alchemy wasn't practiced within Lucis. There was no law against it, it had just never caught on as a class. Ignis doubted there were any alchemists within Insomnia, although perhaps the research division of the Glaive might have a use for it.

But such a thing as a Philosopher's stone sounded immensely powerful. It could revolutionise technology, and scientific advancement, could entirely change the means of production. How much more cost effective would production be when one could use an alchemical short cut and a particular stone?

If it could change matter from mineral to animal, what were the potential medical benefits? Could it be a way to heal every ailment, every wound that might befall a person?

Could it be used to extend life? To regenerate old flesh and make it strong and youthful once more?

No wonder it was valuable. No wonder Galbadia were willing to risk war in order to get it. If they obtained it, no enemy could stand against them. The rewards vastly outweighed the risks.

It could be just what Lucis required.
