Of course if Lumi was correct then Marluxia was not gay and could merely pass for a gay man in good lighting. Szayel, conversely, lived up to every stereotype and a few more Ignis hadn't been aware of prior to meeting Szayel. The man was so aggressively not straight that he created whole new stereotypes just by existing.
"As far as I'm aware," he explained, "no one knows, Gladio included." He added, after a moment's thought, "A least in Lucis. Things are different here. People seem to look more closely."
And jump to conclusions based on the perceived closeness between two men, he thought, as Ignis had done with Lumi and Marluxia, and as Lumi may have done with himself and Gladio.
