Ignis raised an eyebrow hearing Gladio refer to himself as a monkey, and Ignis the organ grinder. "If only they knew," he murmured. Within Lucis, Gladio was rather more important than Ignis. Ignis's father had passed some time ago, and so Ignis had inherited the family title, whereas it would be some years, Goddess willing, before Gladio inherited his. Once he did, however, he'd outrank Ignis in every facet of Insomnian society. Even now the Prince's Shield was rather harder to replace than an advisor, even one that had been earmarked from a young age to one day be the next King's Hand.
"I spoke to Ienzo," he said, straightening up and unfastening his shirt cuffs to roll his sleeves up in careful folds. "From what he said it doesn't sound as if your mystery book is far wrong."
Evil, and an affront to the Goddess. Ignis wasn't a pious man, few Insomnians were, but the prospect of something like that being out there in the hands of persons unknown made his skin itch for reasons that strayed beyond the political ramifications.
