"Indeed," Lumi said, agreeing with Kadaj. "My sword is a Zanpakuto, and I am proficient with knives, both in close combat and thrown, though I have a preference for firearms."

Lumi could kill people in all manner of ways. Stealth prevented his clothing getting blood on it, which made for an easier getaway, so knives were never a bad thing, either when used in a truly ranged fashion, or up close, but guns were good to use from a distance when discretion wasn't required.

That said, he had no illusions about the job. They weren't going to kill people, they were likely to encounter animals and Hollows. Nailing a human between the eyes wasn't much different to doing the same to an animal, though.
