He didn't wish to be pushed, really, and if he could do this in any way that did not involve combat with someone as dangerous as Lumi could be if he wished, then Marluxia would have taken that route. Instead, this was the only way, and Marluxia would have to continue to fight even when he was weakened.
And he would be weakened, he knew. He couldn't hold the scythe's form for long enough, yet, which meant he'd have to forge it again, likely more than once, and that was a drain on his chakra, to say nothing of actually fighting. At least when sparring he could refrain from using magic to focus his energies on the important thing, for now.
"Still," he said adjusting the weight of the scythe, readying himself, "the harder you push, the more effective this will be." Marluxia would have to trust Lumi, not only to know how hard he could push, but to stop short when necessary.
