Professor Hojo's arrival had not gone unnoticed by Aizen.
He felt a small surge of annoyance as he crossed the threshold. The man was supposed to be dead. He was supposed to have died some years ago in an accident at Midgar's laboratories, possibly in an explosion, accounts varied. The rumours back then had been that somebody had opted to take him out on account of his inhumane experiments, though whether it was a terrorist attack or an inside job by Shinra had sat in a state of 'remains to be seen' until the entire thing blew over and got forgotten about.
Either way, he had died.
Khamja had reported the same. They had called a meeting to that effect, even. All members in the vicinity had been called together and informed that Hojo was dead. Similar was set to happen some time in the future for Orochimaru, but it wasn't quite so time sensitive on account of him not being a public figure who died in a government building.
And yet, here he was. Walking into the Desert Palace accompanied by none other than L. L who must have known about his status the entire time, L who was undoubtedly the one to have put in the application for Orochimaru's laboratories before the fool had even gotten himself killed.
Gin came to him shortly after the professor's arrival and confirmed what Aizen already knew. Their conversation on the matter had been short, but to the point. Aizen intended to grab the remaining Arrancar and set the rules out concerning their new resident as soon as possible while being careful not to rush into it. He wouldn't want Hojo to think that he needed to be overly defensive of his subordinates, would he?
And so there he had sat for the majority of the day, save for necessary breaks.
