Kadaj did not respond to this with enthusiastic agreement. Even was a good teacher, certainly the best one Kadaj had ever had, but something about said teacher wanting to put a suggestion to him made him very wary. It was the sort of thing you heard before something like 'spar me', or 'now try it blindfolded', or, since this was magic practice, 'do a few shadow clones and then try casting'. Kadaj got the sneaking suspicion Even was about to issue some form of test.
"Depends what it is," he said, looking at Even with the same expression he wore when Tayuya was suggesting they try something in sparring. What followed was usually a handicap.
