Before he fully came to he felt ... relaxed. It wasn't like coming out of a drugged state, he generally came out of being tranquillised much more quickly, no, it was more like waking from sleep, slowly coming back to the world in a comfortable way.
He was aware of being on a bed, though it was somewhat harder than he was used to. When he opened his eyes it was slowly, carefully. The room he was in was brightly lit, though not enough to make his eyes water. He looked around, not moving his head, and came to the conclusion that he was in an infirmary. The smell of medical chemicals and cleaning agents would have been enough, but the curtain, the equipment and the sterile whiteness confirmed it.
Why was he in an infirmary? How did he get there? He struggled to remember. They had been in a house, Even's house, when Xigbar had entered. He recalled keeping himself concealed, but everything went a little vague after that. He got an impression of fire, of darkness, and of searing pain.
That wasn't there any more, but there was a dull ache just below his shoulder that he couldn't account for beyond that.
Something had gone very wrong. Where was Marluxia? He looked around again, a little more urgently, and tried to sit up.
