Kadaj swallowed, his mouth going dry, before he opened the door. The sound of Kuja's voice was enough to concern Kadaj; he sounded off, wrong. He was dwelling on it. Kadaj realised that Kuja might have been able to feel the fight going on; he was certainly sensitive enough, despite the dampening effect of the training facility.
He shut the door gently behind himself, and then paused, looking at Kuja for a moment. It hurt to see him subdued. Being met with outright anger might have been better.
"You already know what's happened," he said, quietly. It was hard to keep his eyes on Kuja, and Kadaj's gaze fell to the floor. "I've already spoken to Illua, but I owe you an explanation, too."
